Egypt has come up with a new plan to attract people from other countries to invest in their country. This plan is called the Residency by Investment (RBI) program. It gives options for investors who want to live in Egypt for a while.
If you invest money in real estate (buying property) in Egypt, you can get residency for different lengths of time:
1. If you invest at least $200,000 in properties, you can stay for five years and renew your residency.
2. Owning properties worth at least $100,000 lets you stay for three years and renew.
3. With an investment of $50,000 in properties, you can stay for one year and renew.
There's another option where you can put your money in an Egyptian bank:
1. If you deposit $100,000 in a bank, you can stay for three years.
2. Depositing $50,000 lets you stay for one year.
Whether you choose the real estate or the bank route, a company can help you through the legal process, help with your application, and manage renewing your residency.
It's important to know that these options follow certain Egyptian laws that deal with things like foreigners living in Egypt, property ownership, and banking. The changes to these rules are expected to be in effect by December 2023, giving investors new chances in Egypt.
