MP Hala Abu El-Saad has submitted an urgent inquiry to the Egyptian government due to complaints about prolonged power blackouts in September, despite cooler temperatures. Social media reports suggested that daily power cuts had increased from one to two hours this month, although no official government decisions were confirmed. The load-shedding program was initially launched in July to relieve pressure on the gas network during hot weather. Abu El-Saad questioned the need for extended power cuts and called for an explanation for the increased outages. She also urged the government to announce a timeline for ending the load-reduction plan. MP Maha Abdel-Nasser echoed these demands and called on the Cabinet to clarify its plans for ending the cuts, citing previous government assurances regarding the electricity crisis. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly had previously indicated that power cuts might continue through the second or third week of September if temperatures remained high.
