The Ministry of Health and Population has announced the closure of Tabarak Hospital, located in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo, following the tragic death of a 5-year-old child. The hospital's operations have been suspended as investigations continue into allegations of medical negligence.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, explained that the ministry received a formal complaint accusing the attending physician of medical negligence and improper treatment, leading to the child’s untimely death. In response, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, swiftly ordered the formation of a specialized committee to investigate the incident.

The committee, comprising members from the Central Administration of Non-Governmental Treatment Facilities and Licenses, as well as the Egyptian Drug Authority, was tasked with inspecting the hospital, reviewing the child’s treatment plan, and evaluating how the case was handled.

Preliminary findings, as shared by Hisham Zaki, head of the Central Administration of Non-Governmental Treatment Facilities and Licenses, revealed that the hospital failed to follow the appropriate medical protocol in managing the child’s condition. As part of the investigation, representatives of the Egyptian Drug Authority collected samples of the drugs administered to the child for further analysis.

In light of these findings, the Ministry of Health made the immediate decision to close Tabarak Hospital until the investigation is completed. Current patients are being transferred to other Ministry of Health hospitals to ensure their well-being and continued care.

This unfortunate event has sparked discussions about medical negligence and the importance of proper healthcare protocols, highlighting the need for thorough oversight in healthcare facilities to prevent such tragedies from occurring again. The Ministry of Health is committed to ensuring justice for the affected family and maintaining strict standards across all healthcare institutions in Egypt.
