In this video Omar Moore talks about the recent death of a brother in Egypt and what he learned about the burial process in Egypt.

Process:

1. Bring a doctor to confirm the death (Alternatively, take the dead to the hospital, clinic, and or medical center.)

2. Get a death certificate (the doctor will write up a paper to give to the health dept in the area) Take the paper to the health department so they can release the death certificate.

3. Get permission/consent to bury in Egypt from the embassy (no appointment needed, but call first through the emergency consular citizen services.) Email/Show them the death certificate and photos of the deceased person's passport. (Bring your passport and show relationship status.)

4. Washing, shrouding, and burial The shrouding can usually be purchased at the main big masjid in your area. (I.e nasr city- Rabi Adaweya, Masjid Salaam, Masjid Bilal, Masjid Salaam).

The family can wash the body or alternatively the masjid has a place that has people already dedicated to that. (The local masjid imam can assist with finding free plots to be buried in and meantime arrange the Janazah prayer) Alternatively, you can purchase your own plot (could cost around 6k EGP outside of Cairo for example in Obour) Or you can ask an Egyptian to open up an extra plot that they may have available that's unused. (Ask at the masjid it's much easier).
