On Thursday, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli issued a decision to set rules for the fees that foreigners in Egypt must pay when applying for different types of visas through the General Administration of Passports, Immigration, and Nationality.
According to these regulations, foreigners seeking visas need to provide proof that they've paid the required fees, which cover various expenses like residency, late penalties, and the cost of obtaining a residence card. These fees must be paid in U.S. dollars or their equivalent in other currencies.
The Prime Minister's decision also states that foreign residents who are in Egypt illegally must regularize their stay within three months of this decision taking effect. To do so, they must have a host who is an Egyptian citizen. Additionally, these individuals are obligated to pay administrative fees of 1,000 U.S. dollars.
